Two years after an undead minion became an unlikely hero and helped to overthrow the Dark Lord, the kingdom has settled into an easy peace. Kora, at long last restored to her family's throne, oversees the attempts to rebuild and restore a broken land.
Meanwhile, Corbin - our wayward minion, has been given a second chance at living, where he finds himself struggling to adapt to his place as Royal Consort to the Queen. And when he starts having strange dreams about Sakroth's life before he became the Dark Lord, things only get more complicated.
For an outrider will arrive bearing grim tidings: The undead have returned, accompanied by a Darkness that consumes all it touches. To have any hope at stopping it, Corbin will have to chase his dreams and discover how a promising young Redeemer of the Celestine Order transformed into the feared Dark Lord.
